What Does it Mean to Give?

We give because we know that we belong to God, and not to money or possessions.

We give because we believe that we are loved by Jesus in a way that redefines what we love.

We give because our blessings are not our own, but a gift to be shared as a blessing to all.

We give because we are brave in our sacrifice for a larger purpose beyond ourselves.

Giving of our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness means loving God with our whole selves, not just our leftovers. So as we offer the wholeness of our body, mind and spirit to following Jesus in life, that means we are continually led into new ways of living.

Giving of your prayers means you are connected with your family, church, community and nation in a way that you can lift their concerns to God’s care regularly. To pray for the church and the congregation is to continually keep each person's name written on your heart.

Giving of your presence means that you show up for God and others regularly in worship, in small groups, in mission, and even in times of suffering, grief, an pain.

Giving of your gifts means you share of your financial gifts, as a way of expressing your gratitude for God’s graces and goodness, and supporting God’s work in the world.

Giving of your service means you share your time and energy with the church furthering its mission and in the world by growing the  kingdom of God. Whether serving the hospitality team, the missions and justice team, taking a leadership role or simply participating in the church's ministries, your presence is a testament to your faith in an incarnate God.

Giving of your witness means that your love for Jesus shines through in your daily words and work. You could never say a word for people to see the joy of God alive in you!

We invite you to be a part of giving of your whole self in the love of God.

What is Stewardship?

As Christians we recognize everything we have comes from God, and we are simply sharing those gifts for Kingdom work. Through our tithes and offerings, we demonstrate in a tangible way our love for God and our neighbors. Pray about giving regularly to God's ministry and mission through Resurrection with a goal of tithing 10% of your annual income.

What is a "Pledge"?

A pledge is an individual or family’s annual commitment to the church of their tithes and offerings in support of our church’s ministry and mission..

Why do We Need Annual Pledges?

Annual pledges support all we do at Flower Mound UMC. This includes funding worship, programs for children and students, discipleship ministries such as Bible studies, small groups, pastoral care and support, community service, building and operational needs, and paying our staff. We plan our ministry and mission through FMUMC by relying on your financial commitments to develop next year’s budget.

When Should I Pledge?

Fill out your 2021 annual commitment card during worship in October. As a congregation, we will express our gratitude to God and present our cards, representing our commitment to God’s ministry through our church. If you arrive at FMUMC during another season, contact the church office and we'll help get you connect with the right person.

Do I Have to Pay When I Pledge?

You will be able to specify when and how often you are able to pay on your commitment card.
