What to Expect

Flower Mound UMC moved into its new Sanctuary on Dec. 24th, 2016. But even before moving into this beautiful sacred space, FMUMC has been known for its traditional worship. From adult choirs, youth choirs, children’s choirs, handbells, ensembles and even an orchestra, we believe that we can encounter God meaningfully through traditional worship.

As we cherish our customs, we also embrace innovation. The word "tradition" is not the maintenance of rigidity but shared, habitual customs that represent our family. We share these sacred values and delight in the fruits from each new season in our Sunday morning services in the Sanctuary.

Serve In Worship

Two Sacraments

Baptism | signifies a person's incorporation and adoption by God into the Christian faith family. In the United Methodist tradition, we believe that through baptism God's grace is extended to a person whether they are an adult, choosing to accept Christ in their life later in their years, or a child, whom the parents' commit to raising in the Christian tradition. We believe that God does not discriminate on age nor does God revoke the grace bestowed in baptism. Therefore, we only baptize a person one time. If you have already been baptized, you do not need to be baptized again, though there is an option to renew your baptismal vows.  If you have not been baptized, we can arrange your or your child's baptism you personally prior to joining. For more information on Baptism contact our Senior Pastor.

Communion | In the United Methodist Church, we believe that the Lord's Supper, instituted by Jesus before his death, conveys the real presence of Christ. Jesus promised to be with us always, even after His ascension and that presence is made real to us as we gather at the Communion table together. In the Methodist Church all people are invited to the Lord's Table. We celebrate Communion on the First Sunday of every month. Similarly, as an additional offering to God, each month we highlight a missions opportunity and collect a rail offering.

Safety, Registration, and Sunday Programming
Children in Worship |An important component of raising children in the Christian faith is inviting them to experience worship. We welcome children of all ages in worship, wiggles and all. If, however, you need to excuse yourself there is a Family Room located in the back of the sanctuary. The Family Room can be accessed through the double doors of the Narthex off across from the Nursery. Ushers will be happy to help you find the room. In the Family Room you can see and hear worship.
Programming and Safety | At this time, we are asking for all families to register in advance of our children's activities, so we can provide adequate care for each child in the Nursery and Sunday School.
  • Sunday School is at 10:00
  • Nursery is available from 9:00 - 12:00 on Sunday morning

What to Expect with COVID-19

As per the North Texas Annual Conference guidelines, the CDC's recommendations, and the safety of our children and unvaccinated members, FMUMC is maintaining social distancing and requiring masks be worn at all times while on the campus. Here are a few ways we're striving to keep you and your family safe:

  • We've invited congregants to enter through designated program doors to facilitate social distancing
  • Hospitality Team Members are at all entrances ready to help you "e-check" in for a more contact-less arrival
  • Children and Youth ministry are required to register for contact tracing purposes
  • In worship:
    • Congregants are invited to spread out to encourage social distancing
    • Every other pew is roped off to encourage social distancing
    • Ushers fog between services with a sanitizing spray
  • Masks are worn throughout the church

SANCTUARY CHOIR

The Sanctuary Choir is at the heart of the FMUMC music department.  This vibrant group leads music in worship weekly in the 11:00 am worship services.  For special worship celebrations (several times a year), they lead all morning worship services.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7 pm in the choir room (childcare is provided).  Open to adults, as well as college and high school students.  New members are always welcome!

Can't commit to every week?  Come and sing for a season!

Youth Choir

'Cantate Domini' Youth Choir is made up of youth, grades 6-12, who sing to make the world a better place; to bring beauty to a world that's full of dissonance, and to bring hope, justice and caring to those in need.  They sing a wide variety of music, from classical to contemporary Christian, as well as global music.  They play drums, Off xylem and handbells.  This group leads in worship, and takes their music out into the world to share with others.  In the early Spring, they host a fellowship fundraiser in the church called "Soul Cup."

Rehearsals are Sundays at 4 pm in the choir room.
