For Everything There is a Time

For Everything There is a Time

by Rev. Alexandra Robinson on December 31, 2025

Ecclesiastes 3
For everything there is a time…

These words ring true as we take pause today to reflect on all that 2025 given us.  There have been times of birth and death, times of war and peace, times of seeking and losing, times of weeping and laughing.  Each of us this year has held joy and the tragedy sometimes simultaneously as life teaches us in our willingness to learn.  ‘To receive Gods forgiveness and tender love is, in fact, to receive Gods infinity in little doses, which might just be called days or hours, shares Richard Rohr in his book ‘The Tears of Things.’

As we reflect upon these days and hours past, I pray you may look back and be able to see how Gods infinity has been poured out upon you in this year: the friend who sat by your side when you received difficult news, the grandchild whose growth has brought joy, the spouse who forgave your ingratitude.  How many moments we have in our daily life that is magnified in the church: the woman who meets the homeless family each month to ensure they have clean laundry, the man who pours countless hours to ensure the church facilities are maintained, the teen who shows up every week for youth group no matter how many extracurricular conflicts they have. From those who have managed their finances to be able to give generously in our year end financial drive, to those who have gone above and beyond with our children’s ministry in our Christmas pageant, to those who have poured countless hours of rehearsals to give glory to God through music, this Christmas season was a beautiful beginning of a new year. All of the church’s work are the assurances of Gods infinite love revealed in you. So I give thanks for your abundant generosity of time, talent and treasure.
Let us begin a new year giving thanks for a God who reveals infinite love from one year to the next through this body of Christ called Flower Mound UMC.
